After the holiday rush, it’s easy to fall into a January slump. The days are short and cold, and you’ve packed away the merry rush of festivities until next December. But although the Yuletide buzz may be gone, the new year spark can infuse your home as this magical winter month offers its own tonic: rest.

We know, slowing down can be a hard concept to squeeze into our busy schedules. Yet taking the time to savor the cozy bliss of winter is definitely worthwhile. And perhaps where you transition in and out of your home is the perfect place for a daily pause.

To help you, we’re back this first week of 2022 to bring you five of Instagram’s most inspiringly chill decor vibes for your foyer. Ready to breathe in some bliss the moment you walk in your front door? Keep reading.

1. Moroccan table lamp

“Moroccan table lamps are very trendy right now because they give off the perfect warm glow,” says home and lifestyle blogger Charity Gentry, of Mornings on Macedonia. “And we’re all craving that coziness right now, especially after Christmas. It can be hard to find just the right amount of lighting for your home after the Christmas tree is put away, but these table lamps do the trick.”

2. Recessed bench

Another way to slow down this season? By quite literally taking a seat—especially if it’s a cozy perch like this one featured by @piloproject.

“This recessed bench is genius,” says designer Candace Osmond, of StyleShared. “Not only does it provide a focal point the moment you walk in, but it also offers a comfy space to sit while removing or slipping on your shoes. The fact that it’s built in elevates the space and gives a more high-end look.”

3. Rustic vanity

This eye-catching, homespun vanity from @house_of_7feathers is another prime example of decor that creates a restful space.

“A rustic vanity is one of my favorite trends,” says Gentry. “I have one myself in my entryway, and I love the way it looks against a white shiplap wall or brighter-colored wall. Woods and whites are the ultimate definitions to having a cozy and trendy home, and this vanity definitely puts you right on track.”

4. Abstract botanical mirror

Whether it’s to fix your face or admire the glow cast from that new Moroccan lamp (wink), there’s definitely something about this space-defying mirror from @brabbu that gives us pause, in the best way possible.

“Talk about a statement piece,” says Osmond. “This abstract mirror has size, style, texture, and luxury written all over it. If you’re handy, you could possibly achieve this look with a DIY project. But you could also just choose from any gorgeous designs available online.”

5. Modern paintscapes

Need a little extra warmth in your foyer right now? Then you might just be inspired by this sunny modern paintscape from @myplantlover.

“I love this trend,” says Osmond. “Painting murals or shapes on a wall can add pizzazz to any room. But with an entryway, a mural sets the tone for the entire home. It’s also supercheap and easy to pull off. You just need some stencils, painter’s tape, and a few paint colors of your choice, which you can pull from the rest of the home to create a cohesive look.”
